My Education: I hold a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine (1973) from Williams Carey University, Hattiesburg, MS., a Master of Science in Community Counseling (1978) from the Department of Counseling Psychology of the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, MS., a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Hypnotism (1990) from St. John's University, Springfield, LA., a Master of Divinity with a Major in Pastoral Counseling & Theology (2001) from Memphis Theological Seminary, Memphis, TN., and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership (2009) from Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA.
I am an Ordained Elder in the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church, serving Seminary-Oakdale United Methodist Churches, Seminary, Mississippi. Counseling Hypnotism is an outreach ministry of the Seminary-Oakdale Charge.
My Certifications: I am a Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC), c ertified by the Board of Christian Professional & Pastoral Counselors (BCPPC), a division of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC www.aacc.net ), a Certified Consulting Hypnotist (CH), c ertified by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH www.ngh.net ), a certified member of the Clergy Special Interest Group (CSIG) of NGH, and I am certified by the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association (IMDHA).
Pastoral Hypnotists are part of the "Pastoral Care and Counseling Movement," which dates back to the 1940s. This movement has its own professional associations and certification. As a Pastoral Counselor and Hypnotist, I comply with all the standards set by BCPPC, AACC, NGH, IMDHA, and CSIG.
As a Pastoral Counseling Hypnotist, I practice a high level of professional pastoral care that is informed by the hypnotic arts and sciences. Hypnotism helps a person use God's healing power to resolve unconscious issues, and learn to make their own right decisions.
